Dr. Plaus graduated as Valedictorian from Union College in Schenectady,
N.Y. with a degree in Biology in 1976. He completed medical school a
Harvard University in 1980. He went on to complete his surgical residency
at Beth Israel Hospital and the Harvard teaching hospitals Boston , MA.
A major part of his training was in GI surgery and endocrine surgery of
the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreas. Dr. Plaus has practiced in
Denver since 1985.
His surgical practice is busy and wide-ranging. He has special interest in endocrine surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid surgery and has now operated on over 600 cases. He strives to ease patients' worries as they go through stressful times.
Dr Plaus spends a significant amount of his time teaching medical students, physician assistants and surgical residents. He has won several teaching awards for his efforts at Rose Medical Center , the University of Colorado Medical School, and the University Hospital . He has been cited as one of Denver 's Top Doctors in 5280 Magazine many times during his career.
Dr. Plaus has several outside interests including running, biking, reading and gardening. A large part of his time is spent with his wife in raising their three teenage children.
